Consumers may be exposed to hot water vapor from steamers, which can cause them to spray, expel or leak hot water.

Description:

This recall concerns BLACK+DECKER Model HGSO011 Easy Garment Steamers. The date codes are located on the plug blades. The steamers came in many colors. At the base of each steamer is the name BLACK+DECKER. The steamer is approximately 11 by 6 inches in height and 6 inches wide. The model numbers can be found on the bottom of steamers and on all sides color packages. UPC codes can also be found on the sides, back, and bottom of color packages. This recall covers steamers with no green dots on the bottom or notched triangles on the upper side of its assembly.

Remedy:

The BLACK+DECKER recall should be immediately stopped by consumers Model Empower Brands offers a free replacement upper for HGS011 Easy Garment Steamers.

Incidents/Injuries:

Empower Brands 241 reports have been received about hot water escaping from the steamer. 32 burn injuries were reported, with two being second-degree burns.

Sold at:

Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and other stores nationwide, including online at www.walmart.com, www.target.com, www.bedbathandbeyond.com and www.blackanddeckerappliances.com from June 2021 through September 2022 for between $16 and $23.
