Tár is a psychological drama that charts the downfall of fictional composer and conductor Lydia Tár.

It was voted one of the top films of 2022 by Todd Field, a director and writer who wrote the role for Cate.

Speaking to W magazine, she said: ‘He wrote it at the beginning of the pandemic, Todd was a musician first, so there was a musical quality to the script, and not just because it’s set in the classical music world.’

Then, the star – who won the coveted Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival for her performance in the film – touches on the moral of the story.

She stated that it could be about any of the top institutions, including an architect, painter or writer. However, being in such a position can affect their self-esteem and ability to relate to others.
