RTA Resort 2024 Collection | Vogue

Robert Liptak has had three collections to get to know the RTA woman he’s designing for. She’s sensual and playful, but has a serious side, and he wants the clothes to reflect that attitude. For resort 2024, he imagined her going on a road trip, and the clothes she’d need for the ride. Some are more bohemian than you’d expect from RTA (see: the patchwork knit sweater dress), but Liptak found ways to bring a hardened edge to every garment.

This season’s big silhouette is a denim maxi, which is becoming a celebrity and designer favorite. Liptak took a pair skinny jeans and unstitched them to create a skirt that has a high slit both on the sides. The fabric around the legs is also floppy. It looks more like jeans on the hanger than a skirt. It’s a cool idea, as is the perforated mini dress made of a reflective fabric that shines like a high visibility vest. The classic look of a super structured leather jacket is one with sharp shoulders.

Crochet has been incredibly popular in designer collections, even though it’s not a totally natural fit for RTA. Liptak’s alternative features a logo print embroidered on mesh, giving the skin baring effect of crochet without its hippie leanings. The woman in this picture may travel by car, but it’s a motorcycle.
