Shona Joy presents Resort 23 collection, ‘Tropico’

Bondi Pavilion feels special. The Pavilion is located in the middle the beach, looking out over the sparkling water. We are still trying to find a better view of Bondi. After months of rain, the skies opened up for Shona Joy’s first runway show for their Resort 23 collection on Tuesday, November 8. TROPICO.

It’s like the beach is new again after rain. Everything is bright and sparkling. As the Pavilion’s grounds were planted with tropical plants, shaded palms, wicker lounges, and canvas sunchairs for Shona Joy, this was also the case. Bambi Northwood -Blyth, dressed in a bikini (the runway presentation was the first attempt at swimwear), and a floral sarong, stepped down the stairs.

There were 37 exits. The mix of ready to wear and swimwear was layered together. It provided inspiration for the perfect summer wardrobe using a variety of blacks and earth tones as well as creams and beiges. You could find fluid tailoring and tonal floral-printed two-piece button down sets. Mini dresses with criss-cross straps provided seasonal playfulness while the five closing exits – a quintet of cream silk dresses and suits injected lightness into the collection.

Swimwear felt classic and enduring, designed responsibly in environmentally friendly recycled nylon, ECONYL®, manufactured from regenerated raw materials such as fabric scraps, carpet flooring, fishing nets, industrial plastics, ocean and landfill waste, that would otherwise pollute the Earth. The brand introduced a new era with its simple trikinis, which were available in white, rust, and a custom floral print. One piece pieces had delicate cut outs, and ruched necklines.

Shona Joy’s swimwear collection will be available to purchase online from the 17 November. With each swim garment sold, a donation will be made to SurfAid as part of Shona Joy’s ongoing partnership.
